Switchme saves your electricity dollars

I am really lucky that as part of my job as your Member of Parliament, I also get to meet lots of really interesting and amazing people. I have been thinking about writing more about some of them - it may be one of my new year resolutions!! Here's just one!

Brett O'Donnell is a young Mt Pleasant resident who has started a great web service which is not only free to use but also might save you money - does this sound like a win/win?

The web service is called Switchme (www.switchme.co.nz) and is a really quick way of finding out if your current power price and retailer are the best deal that you can get. Some of Brett's customers have saved between $300 and $370 per year. That's good money to be keeping in your own pocket rather than paying on for something which is comparatively overpriced.

At the moment, this service is only available to residential power customers, but Brett does hope to expand to provide for business customers in the future.
