If there was ever any doubt that the government's recent propaganda  mailouts promoting National Standards in education were a misuse of public funds then it is dispelled by the N.Z. Herald's editorial of February 6. Even 'Granny Herald', which up till now has been been an enthusiastic booster of the Nat's education policy has had to declare the mailout unacceptable.

And while we're focusing on the Herald .They need to be more careful about who they get to write about education. Their right leaning columnist John Roughan clearly had such a bad time at school that he has developed an irrational hatred of teachers and  is unable to write coherently on the subject!

It's about time that some lay people who wouldn't presume to tell a medical specialist or an electrician how to do their job stopped trying to tell educational professionals how to do theirs. They only serve to display their own ignorance.

A Big Thankyou!

Thank you to everyone who supported our first garage sale at 642 Ferry Rd on Saturday either by donating quality items or buying (or both!).

We raised $512.70 for LEC funds and had a fun day. There are still plants and books available.

Please contact me if you would like to arrange a time to view for purchase.
