A husband and wife team is behind Christchurch's first true community pharmacy which has recently opened on Linwood Avenue.
Ann Tiller is a pharmacist and co-director of the Community Pharmacy group together with husband Joe who has worked for almost 15 years in the NZ pharmacy sector.
The Tiller's say their everyday low prices and reduced prescription fees will put over the counter remedies and other pharmaceuticals back within the reach of ordinary New Zealanders and families.
"Prescription charges for all subsidised medicines are reduced by 50%. There are no additional or hidden charges for sending or receiving faxes, making changes to prescriptions or any other similar service we provide," says Joe.
He adds that his team is dedicated to keeping abreast of the latest technological advances to help patients as much as possible, for example providing larger print on labels for patients with poor eye sight, personal medication charts and 'repeat due' reminders on repeat prescriptions.
Mr Tiller says this is great news for the community, particularly as budgets are stretched in many households.
"If parents can't afford pain relief or hayfever medication for example, children particularly can suffer as a result," says Joe.
Christchurch's first Community Pharmacy is located at 201 Linwood Ave and opened for business on Monday December 6, 2010.
